the area management. Thus the total area covers a surface of 150
000 decare. This cooperation was started already 1996, and in
the last years a total of approx. 50 animals per year were hunted
down in the entire area. The area of Venabygd Grunneierlag is
divided into three districts: Venabygd Sør, Venabygd Midtre
and Venabygd Nord.
The district Venabygd Midtre enclosure approx. 25 000 decare and
is limited in the west by the river Frya, in the south by the
road Rv 27, in the north by the brook Ådalsbekken and in
the east by the national common country. Here mainly spruce grows,

posts and hunting dogs. The hunt team has 3 elkhounds, one are
recognized as a search dog. The hunt day are normally divided
into three parts: The first team goes out in the morning-grey
and hunts to approx. 10-11 o’clock, when all meet at the
rest-place for a common meal and a pleasant time (the rest-place
is each day the same). The hunt continues approx. 13-14 o'clock
and lasts often to it becomes dark. Normally most moose are killed
in the first week, and often 80 - 90 % of the total quota in the
first 2 weeks. The oxen are normally killed in the first week.
The posts are distributed by lots drawing. If an animal is killed,
the hunt is stopped and all meet with the killed moose. The animal
is then brought away from the district, and the remaining time
of the shift normally goes to slaughtering.
